Why Consider Dental Implants?

We all dream of that perfect Hollywood smile that we can use to take on the world, but sometimes life gets in the way. Losing a tooth is nothing to be ashamed of and it should never be the reason that you hide your light from the world around you.

With today’s modern dental procedures, we can help you regain that confidence and get you back to that winning smile in no time.

Let’s talk about how we do that.

What Are Dental Implants?

Permanent solution for tooth loss
A dental implant, as the name suggests, is a procedure where an artificial tooth is inserted in the gap left by the missing tooth. When done well, this tooth will look exactly like a natural one and no one else will be any the wiser.

The way that they work is that there is a small metal implant that is inserted into the jawbone to act as the foundation for the implant. Then, a crown or denture is connected to that component with a connecting piece called an abutment. These three pieces together are what we consider a dental implant.

What Does the Process Involve?

Every implant is going to be slightly different depending on the situation, but the general process looks something like this:

  • A periodontist will assess the area where the tooth is going to be implanted, evaluating the gum health and a variety of other factors that might impact the procedure. They will also identify the key placement area to a very high level of precision.
  • You’ll then undertake a surgery where a dental implant post is placed into the jawbone to act as the artificial tooth root.
  • Then you’ll need to leave it for a few months until the area is fully healed.
  • After the healing process, you’ll have the abutment fitted to the implant post, and the gum tissue is closed around that connective piece. Some clients choose to have this done at the same time as the planting of the post, but it really depends on the individual circumstances.
  • The last step is to attach the new crown to the abutment, giving you a natural aesthetic look and all the function that you need.

From there, it’s up to you to maintain good dental hygiene so that you look after that implant over time. It’s highly recommended that you continue with regular dental appointments to keep tabs and on things so that you are always on top of it!

Why Should You Get a Dental Implant?

We know that dental implants can be overwhelming, and many people feel nervous or potentially embarrassed about getting them. But trust us, the benefits for you are immense and we’d love to help you. Here are some of the reasons why you should consider getting that implant:

  • Increased confidence. When you rejuvenate that missing gap you’ll feel so much more comfortable in social circumstances and everyday life. You can let go of any insecurity you might have been suffering through and you can get all that confidence back and more.
  • Once and done. Most dental implants last you an entire lifetime, so it’s not a recurring thing that you’ll have to worry about. It just takes one upfront investment and you’ll be reaping the rewards for decades to come.
  • Comfortable eating. An implant helps to replenish your full set of teeth which can really help you eat and swallow more comfortably. Say goodbye to irritation, food getting stuck, or being forced to eat on one side of your mouth. Your implant will help you eat normally once again.
  • Integrates over time. While the implant is fully artificial at first, over time the bone will grow around the artificial pieces, and it will become fully a part of your natural system. This seamless integration makes for great aesthetics and functionality at the same time.
  • Doesn’t affect other teeth.  Some other dental procedures can affect the health of other teeth because they might rely on them for support or things like that.  An implant does nothing of the sort.  Your implant will act completely independently from your other teeth, solving your problem without creating other ones as a side effect.
  • Convenience.  Unlike dentures which tend to succumb to the daily tedium of removing them and putting them back in, an implant doesn’t require any of this sort of ongoing maintenance.  As long as you’re following good general hygiene, the implant takes care of itself.  It’s one less thing for you to worry about!
  • Strong track record.  As far as dental procedures go, dental implants have an incredibly high success rate and have been proven to be a wonderful example of what modern dentistry can accomplish.
