I’ve always been the type of person who believes there is a better way.

Sometimes that’s a blessing, and sometimes it’s a struggle.

Even as a kid, I was never the loudest person in the room. I often kept my thoughts to myself. While others seemed naturally confident, I was usually the one quietly observing, learning, and trying to figure out how I could improve. That mindset never really left me.

It followed me through school, through dental school, and eventually into building my own dental practices.

The positive side of that personality is that I am always looking for ways to provide better care for my patients. The downside is that I rarely feel completely satisfied. As soon as I reach one goal, I find myself looking toward the next one.

Over the years, I’ve learned that growth is not just about building a bigger practice or adopting new technology. Growth is about becoming better at serving people.

That’s why artificial intelligence has caught my attention.

Not because it’s trendy.

Not because it’s exciting technology.

But because it has the potential to help us see things we might otherwise miss.

As dentists, we spend our days looking for problems before they become bigger problems. We look for small cavities before they become root canals, early signs of gum disease before teeth become loose, and subtle changes that can affect a person’s health and confidence.

AI helps us do that better.

It doesn’t replace experience, judgment, or the relationship between a doctor and a patient. What it provides is another set of eyes. By helping analyze X-rays and dental images, AI can highlight areas that deserve a closer look, helping us identify problems earlier and explain our findings more clearly to patients.

In many ways, that’s how I’ve tried to approach life. I’ve never believed success comes from having all the answers. I believe it comes from being willing to learn, adapt, and use every tool available to become better.

If there is a tool that can help me take better care of the people who trust me with their health, I believe it’s worth exploring.
