Why Dentistry Is Demanding and Why I Love It Anyway
Why I Love What I Do
I know that going to the dentist isn’t most people’s favorite thing to do. Busy schedules, insurance concerns, or dental anxiety can make it feel like a chore. That’s why I’ve built my practice around making the experience as stress-free and comfortable as possible. From the first phone call, our front desk team is here to answer questions, help with insurance, and find an appointment that works for you. With two convenient locations in Tenafly and Oradell, we try to make scheduling feel less like a burden and more like an act of self-care.
The truth is, dentistry itself is demanding. It takes focus, precision, and long hours on my feet. Every decision carries weight because it directly affects someone’s health, comfort, and confidence. And often, we’re caring for people at their most vulnerable — in pain, nervous, or unsure. That responsibility can be stressful, but it’s also what makes this work so meaningful.
What makes it easier, and deeply rewarding, is seeing the transformation. Watching a patient’s face light up when they see their smile restored or seeing someone with dental anxiety walk out feeling safe and understood makes every challenge worth it. Just recently, a patient who had been anxious about treatment finished her care and surprised us with baked goods as a thank-you. Another dropped off treats for Rosh Hashanah. These small gestures of appreciation remind me why I chose this profession and why I love what I do.
At the end of the day, dentistry isn’t just about fixing teeth. It’s about building trust, creating relationships, and treating every patient like family with patience, compassion, and respect. Yes, it’s demanding. But it’s also a privilege. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
